Gunther Arcanus

Gunther Arcanus is an exceptionally powerful necromancer dwelling on an isolated island in Brightwater Lake. Slain during the Third War and raised into undeath, he managed to shatter the Lich King's mental grip entirely on his own. Long believing he was the sole undead possessing free will, he defended his retreat against all outsiders until discovered by the Forsaken.

Before the fall of Lordaeron, Gunther was a promising apprentice among the Kirin Tor in Dalaran. Alongside close friends Bethor Iceshard and Thule Ravenclaw, he studied the arcane arts, secretly delving into necromancy despite the Kirin Tor's strict prohibitions against dark magic. To commemorate their brotherhood, the trio once bound their apprentice wands together into a single heirloom.
