Ear of Balgaras
The Ear of Balgaras serves as grim proof of the death of Balgaras the Foul, a Dark Iron warlock who led the assault on Dun Modr. Recovered from the cowardly commander's corpse, it brings closure to the Ironforge mountaineers defending the northern Wetlands.
A Grim Trophy
Dun Modr fell into ruins when Dark Iron invaders sabotaged the Thandol Span and wiped out the local dwarven garrison. Their commander in the field was Balgaras the Foul, a scheming warlock who directed his troops from the shadows while shying away from personal combat. For Longbraid the Grim, the mountain king's officer stationed outside the ruined outpost, justice demanded tangible evidence of the ringleader's fall. Severing Balgaras's ear provides absolute verification that the warlock's reign of terror at the northern border has ended.
Justice for the Fallen
The loss of Dun Modr cost Longbraid his brother along with dozens of stout soldiers who perished during the collapse of the West Bridge. Presenting the warlock's ear does not mend the shattered span or revive the fallen, but it destabilizes the surviving Dark Iron forces scattered through the northern Wetlands. Without Balgaras to direct them, the remaining raiders become far easier for Ironforge's scouts to contain before another commander is sent from the south.
