WoW Forever Engineering Guide: New Recipes and Gadgets

Engineering in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) is a primary crafting profession that builds gadgets, explosives and tools from ore, stone and gems, and its new camp items include a Reagent Bot and a Repair Bot. Forever also adds SAF-T explosives that appear designed for non-Engineers, and the Gnome racial now affects gadget backfires. Mining is the first pairing Warcraft Tavern recommends.

Quick answer: Learn Engineering from a racial or capital trainer, craft an Arclight Spanner early, and choose Gnomish or Goblin at skill 200. Train at Engineering 50, 125 and 200. Bring a steady supply of ore, stone and gems from Mining.

Engineering in WoW Forever trains at skill 50, 125 and 200, has Reagent Bot, Repair Bot and Anarchist's Workbench camp items at skills 20, 140 and 300, and new recipes such as SAF-T Dynamite at skill 25.

Key facts

  • Profession type: primary crafting; tools are an Arclight Spanner, Blacksmith Hammer and Anvil (Warcraft Tavern)
  • Training: Engineering 50 and level 10, then 125 and level 20 (50 silver), then 200 and level 35 (WoW Professions)
  • Specializations: Gnomish or Goblin, unlocked at skill 200 by quest; switching means unlearning (Warcraft Tavern)
  • Gnome racial: Engineering Specialization now affects backfires; WoW Professions says devices fail or backfire 20% less often
  • Camp items: Reagent Bot at skill 20, Repair Bot at 140, Anarchist's Workbench at 300 (Method)
  • New recipes: SAF-T Dynamite at skill 25, SAF-T Copper Bomb at 55, Satchel of Copper Bombs at 85 (Seemeta)
  • Pairings: Mining first, with Alchemy also useful (Warcraft Tavern)

Where do you learn Engineering?

WoW Professions names capital trainers: Thund in Orgrimmar, Graham Van Talen in Undercity, Sprite Jumpsprocket in Stormwind and Jemma Quikswitch in Ironforge. Starting-area trainers include Mukdrak in Razor Hill, Twizwick Sprocketgrind in Mulgore, Bronk Guzzlegear in Dun Morogh, Jenna Lemkenilli in Auberdine, and the Strange Hermit on Zephras Isle. The Artisan trainer is Buzzek Bracketswing in Gadgetzan, Tanaris.

Warcraft Tavern says the Engineering trainer teaches the knowledge needed to craft the Arclight Spanner, which complex recipes require. Blacksmith Hammers are sold by general or trade goods vendors, and the same page says many recipes, though not all, need an Anvil. Read the professions guide for how ranks work.

What new recipes does Engineering get?

Blizzard's deep dive panel recap says Forever adds over 600 new recipes across professions. Seemeta's list, based on game version 1.60.1 beta and updated October 22, 2026, gives skill levels and counts 72 new Engineering recipes. Examples:

  • Reagent Bot: trainer recipe at skill 20
  • SAF-T Dynamite: schematic at skill 25
  • SAF-T Copper Bomb: schematic at skill 55
  • Harvester Override Signalcaster: schematic at skill 65
  • Satchel of Copper Bombs: schematic at skill 85
  • EZ-Thro Wrap: schematic at skill 100

Warcraft Tavern says the key difference of the SAF-T versions is that non-Engineers can use the throwables, and its author reads them as safe options for each explosive. The Satchel of Copper Bombs takes the thrown weapon slot, needs no ammo, and can pull mobs from range. Other new items include the Hoof Shaped Foot Pedal, limited to Desolace, and a belt called Clanking Cord whose effect is unclear in the beta (Warcraft Tavern).

How do Gnomish and Goblin specializations work?

Warcraft Tavern says you pick one at Engineering 200 through a quest chain, and switching requires unlearning Engineering and losing your recipes. WoW Professions adds a character level 30 requirement. Gfinity describes Goblin as heavy explosives and area damage, and Gnomish as gadgets and crowd control.

The Gnome racial changed. Warcraft Tavern says Engineering Specialization now affects the chance of gadgets and gizmos backfiring. WoW Professions says Gnomes no longer get +15 Engineering skill and that devices now fail or backfire 20% less often.

How do Engineering camp items work?

Blizzard says each profession has three camp objects, learned at different skill levels, and the first unlock at skill 20 from special NPCs or trainers. Method lists the Engineering tiers as Reagent Bot (20), Repair Bot (140) and Anarchist's Workbench (300). Icy Veins' camping preview says the Reagent Bot lets you and nearby players buy reagents, and its Deadmines page says Sneed drops the Repair Bot Blueprint. Warcraft Tavern says the Anarchist's Workbench may be required for some higher-level recipes. See the camping guide and the Deadmines guide.

How do you level Engineering?

WoW Professions suggests Rough Blasting Powder, Handful of Copper Bolts and the Arclight Spanner from 1 to 50, then Rough Copper Bomb from 51 to 75. Later steps include Mithril Casing (215 to 238) and Thorium Widget (260 to 285). Warcraft Tavern says most of the materials are ore, stone and gems. See the Mining guide, the best professions guide and gold making. The free Lore Forever add-on adds zone background while you farm.

What is not confirmed yet

  • WoW Professions says its Engineering route comes from beta clients and is still in progress, and the beta cap left the route after skill 225 untested.
  • Warcraft Tavern says several gadget descriptions are the author's interpretation, including the SAF-T items.
  • Gfinity lists different camp items, such as a Field Repair Unit and a Jukebox, that Method and Icy Veins do not list.
  • The 20% backfire figure comes only from WoW Professions' beta data.
  • Icy Veins lists Blueprint: Repair Bot as a Sneed drop in the Deadmines, but Method's Sneed loot list does not include it.
  • None of the sources reviewed describes Scrolls or Research for Engineering.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Engineering camp items in WoW Forever?

Method lists the Reagent Bot at skill 20, the Repair Bot at 140 and the Anarchist's Workbench at 300. Neither Method nor Icy Veins gives numeric effects.

What are SAF-T items in WoW Forever Engineering?

SAF-T Dynamite, SAF-T Copper Bomb and SAF-T Tabs are new Engineering recipes. Warcraft Tavern's author believes SAF-T versions exist so non-Engineers can safely use throwables, though this is an interpretation.

When do I choose Gnomish or Goblin Engineering?

You choose at Engineering skill 200. Warcraft Tavern says it is a quest chain, WoW Professions adds character level 30, and changing means unlearning Engineering.

Do Gnomes still get a skill bonus in WoW Forever?

No, according to WoW Professions, which says Gnomes no longer get +15 Engineering skill. Warcraft Tavern says the racial now affects the chance of backfires, and WoW Professions puts that at 20% less often.

Which profession pairs best with Engineering?

Mining, since Warcraft Tavern says most of your materials are ore, stone and gems. Warcraft Tavern also lists Alchemy, because Forever recipes often need materials made by an Alchemist.

Where do I get the Anvil for Engineering recipes?

Warcraft Tavern says many Engineering recipes need an Anvil, though not all. Method lists Blueprint: Anvil as a drop from Gilnid in the Deadmines.
