Gaping Chasm

Breaking the rolling expanses of Tanaris, the Gaping Chasm plunges down into a teeming subterranean warren of tunnels, resinous mounds, and twitching carapaces. This hive belongs to the Hazzali, an aggressive brood of silithid that have burrowed beneath the desert wastes. Between subterranean stingers, swarmers, and hulking sandreavers, any travelers or treasure-hunters foolish enough to descend into the chasm quickly find themselves hunted as prey or preserved in sticky cocoons.

The expanding hive caught the attention of Gadgetzan's enterprising minds, prompting Senior Surveyor Fizzledowser to dispatch his junior surveyor, Scrimshank, into the pit to map and measure the geological shifts caused by the insect tunnels. Unsurprisingly, the expedition ended in disaster. Scrimshank met a grim end amidst the chittering broods, leaving behind scattered gear and measuring instruments that caution anyone against underestimating the silithid threat.
