Drowned Sacellum
The Drowned Sacellum is a submerged elven shrine lying just inside the entrance of Blackfathom Deeps. Submerged beneath brackish saltwater and draped in cavernous roots, its shattered masonry is now overrun by murlocs and makrura.
A Submerged Sanctuary
Stepping through the threshold of Blackfathom Deeps immediately brings explorers into the Drowned Sacellum. Once a tranquil subterranean chapel dedicated to Elune, the sacellum has long collapsed into the sea-swept abyss beneath Ashenvale's coast. Saltwater pools swallow ancient marble flagstones overgrown with starfish, while massive tree roots dangle from the cavern ceiling above. Dark, flickering wisps provide the only dim light in the gloom, illuminating a ruined pathway of stones that adventurers must carefully navigate to reach the Pool of Ask'ar deeper within the temple complex.
Den of Scavengers
Long abandoned by its night elf caretakers, the Drowned Sacellum has fallen into the hands of shoreline scavengers. Packs of aggressive murlocs and heavily armored makrura dwell side by side in the murky waters, attacking anyone who dares disturb their nesting grounds. While darker, cultic threats lurk further below in the temple depths, these predatory creatures form the first hazardous line of defense for the subterranean ruins.
