Darrowshire

Darrowshire is a ruined village in the southern hills of the Eastern Plaguelands, once a peaceful hamlet of Lordaeron. During the Third War, its residents mounted a desperate, tragic stand against an overwhelming Scourge force. Today, only shattered timbers, restless spirits, and bitter memories linger amid the silence.

A Tragic Stand

Before the plague consumed northern Lordaeron, Darrowshire was a humble rural settlement nestled beneath the southern cliffs. When the Scourge marched south during the Third War, a force led by the death knight Marduk Blackpool and the ghoul lord Horgus the Ravager besieged the town. The villagers and local defenders fought valiantly, momentarily holding the line against impossible odds. Ultimately, the defense collapsed, and the town was slaughtered down to the last soul. Rather than finding peace in death, many of Darrowshire's fallen defenders were reanimated as ghouls to bolster the Scourge's ranks, leaving the village an eerie, empty memorial of lost valor.

Echoes of the Battle

Though long abandoned by the living, Darrowshire is far from completely empty. The psychic weight of the slaughter clings heavily to the valley, trapping spectral remnants of the townspeople within the ruins. Travelers passing through report strange phenomena, including chilling reenactments where the tragic battle unfolds again in ghostly silence. The ground remains saturated with sorrow, serving as a bleak reminder of what the Scourge tore away from the kingdom.
