Verna Furlbrow
Verna Furlbrow is an evicted farmer currently stranded beside her broken-down wagon near the northern border of Westfall. After bandits seized her family's pumpkin patch, she and her husband attempted to flee toward Elwynn Forest, only to find themselves stuck on the dangerous open road.
A String of Misfortunes
Verna and her husband once worked their own pumpkin farm in northern Westfall, but the rising tide of lawlessness sweeping the countryside drove them out. When outlaws overran their land, the couple piled what possessions they could onto their cart and hitched up their faithful horse, Old Blanchy, intending to escape to the safety of Elwynn Forest. Disastrously, their wagon broke down just down the road from the abandoned Jansen Stead. With no means to repair the axle or move forward, Verna has been left to endure the elements, bandit raids, and scavengers while relying on traveling adventurers to keep her household fed and guarded.
Heart of the Hearth
Despite being reduced to squatting along the roadside, Verna maintains a welcoming and resourceful spirit. Known across the region as the creator of Westfall Stew, she regularly shares meals and warm fires with wandering transients and refugees who have suffered similar fates. She relies on passing wanderers to scour the fields for ingredients—such as boar snouts, murloc eyes, okra, and stringy vulture meat—to replenish her cooking pot, transforming whatever the harsh frontier yields into hearty sustenance for the destitute.
