Monte Gazlowe

Gazlowe is the pragmatic goblin engineer and overseer who established and rules the port town of Ratchet. After serving as the Horde's chief engineer during the founding of Durotar and Orgrimmar, he used his substantial earnings to build a bustling, neutral trading hub for the Steamwheedle Cartel.

The Mastermind of Ratchet

After securing a handsome payday for his engineering work with the new Horde, Gazlowe invested directly into the barren coastline, founding the port of Ratchet. Operating under the Steamwheedle Cartel, he runs the dockside town as a strictly neutral port where Horde, Alliance, and independent traders can barter freely—provided they keep their weapons sheathed and their purses heavy.

Engineer for the Horde

Following the Third War, Warchief Thrall hired Gazlowe as Durotar's chief engineer to solve critical infrastructure challenges for the nascent orc capital. Gazlowe took on the perilous job of securing a freshwater supply for Orgrimmar, digging extensive tunnels that inadvertently breached subterranean kobold dens. With the timely assistance of the wandering beastmaster Rexxar, Gazlowe managed to blast the caverns shut and complete his assignments. He remains a favored contractor and friend to Thrall, even dispatching his own foreman, Rezlak, to continue assisting orcish construction efforts across Durotar.

Trouble on the Merchant Coast

Though business in Ratchet is lucrative, Gazlowe faces continuous headaches from maritime competition and thievery. The Southsea Freebooters have established camps along the nearby Merchant Coast, intercepting cargo bound for Ratchet and stealing everything from raw ore to Gazlowe's custom-ordered boots. To protect his bottom line, the port boss frequently hires passing sellswords of any allegiance to clean out pirate encampments, retrieve stolen shipments, and settle scores with dockside troublemakers.
