Captain Thalo'thas Brightsun

Operating out of the bustling neutral port of Ratchet, Captain Thalo'thas Brightsun leads the Thalo'dan Privateers under the broad banner of the Steamwheedle Cartel. In theory, Ratchet's merchants welcome all flags so long as their coin is good, but maritime trade along the Barrens coast is fraught with danger. Just south of the port lies Northwatch Hold, an aggressive Alliance fortification whose heavy artillery threatens neutral sea lanes. Brightsun maintains an outward neutrality toward visiting travelers, but he has reached his limit with the belligerent garrison firing on his fleet.

Because full-scale conflict would endanger Ratchet's neutrality, Brightsun cannot deploy an open armada against the fortress. Instead, he looks to capable Horde mercenaries to settle the score. He discreetly arranges strikes against Northwatch Hold to silence the fortress's cannons and secure the freedom of his captured crew. By employing Horde auxiliaries rather than provoking a direct Alliance retaliation against the cartel, Brightsun protects his shipping interests while keeping Ratchet's official ledger clean.
