Highborne Relic (Classic)
Highborne Relics are ancient magical implements recovered from the restless spirits haunting the ruins of Ameth'Aran in Darkshore. Imbued with the arcane dabblings that shattered ancient Kalimdor, they are sought by night elf scholars who wish to see them destroyed before their dormant powers can cause further harm.
Remnants of the Sundering
Ten thousand years ago, the Highborne caste practiced reckless arcane magic, ultimately bringing ruin upon ancient Kalimdor. Today, their former estates lie in shattered ruin across Darkshore. Within the crumbling columns of Ameth'Aran, wailing and writhing apparitions wander the forest floor, endlessly clinging to the physical implements of their bygone sorcery. These relics remain persistent tether-points of arcane taint, clutched by ghosts who refuse to release the instruments of their own undoing.
Purging the Arcane Taint
For modern night elf society, which largely renounced arcane magic after the Great Sundering, such artifacts represent a grave hazard. Scholars like Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine, acting upon scouting reports from the Sentinels, actively commission travelers to wrest these relics from the spectral hands of the cursed spirits. Once gathered, the relics are systematically destroyed to ensure that the ancient evils and catastrophic mistakes of the Highborne cannot be repeated.
