Rethiel the Greenwarden watches over the wilds of the Wetlands, maintaining a profound spiritual kinship with the trees of the marsh. While the natural cycle of rot and renewal belongs in a swamp, the deliberate destruction of the timber cuts deep into Rethiel's spirit. To a living spirit of the marsh, hearing the groans of living boughs chopped down and cast into hearthfires is an agony Rethiel can no longer endure in silence.

The Mosshide pack ravages the wetlands for warmth and territory, felling green trees rather than gathering fallen deadwood. To curb their expansion without a prolonged war of attrition, Rethiel targets the key tool of their destruction: the crude flints used by the stronger gnolls. By stripping the pack of fire-making implements, Rethiel renders them unable to burn the felled timber. Rethiel personally shatters each collected stone and casts the dust into the sea, ensuring those sparks will never ignite the forest again.
