Tahonda Ruins

The Tahonda Ruins are the sun-bleached remnants of an ancient tauren settlement swallowed by the salt and sand of the Shimmering Flats. Little is remembered of the villagers who once lived here, and dangerous Saltstone basilisks now stalk among the decaying tent poles and shredded leather.

Sunken beneath the Salt

Situated in the southern reaches of the Shimmering Flats near the pass into Tanaris, the Tahonda Ruins stand as a somber monument to an abandoned tauren past. The village fell long ago, its weathered structures gradually engulfed by shifting white salt crusts. While some suspect the local Saltstone basilisks drove the inhabitants away, odd clues linger on the surviving structures. Two distinct sets of three parallel tears cut through the leather of a ruined lodge, suggesting the village met a violent end at the claws of powerful predators or hostile invaders before the desert claimed what remained.
