Rustmaul Dig Site

The Rustmaul Dig Site is a ruined excavation in the southern reaches of the Shimmering Flats. Originally established by the dwarven Explorers' League to unearth ancient ruins, the camp fell into tragedy when a Horde war party slaughtered the miners, after which a subterranean silithid swarm emerged. Now abandoned by mortals, the site crawls with hostile insectoids emerging from the caverns below.

A Slaughter in the Salt

Prospectors from the Ironforge Explorers' League set up the Rustmaul Dig Site hoping to uncover forgotten artifacts buried beneath the salt flats. Their efforts were brutally cut short when an aggressive Horde war party, led by Moktar Krin, fell upon the camp and wiped out the dwarven excavators. However, the conquerors enjoyed no triumph. The violent clash apparently disturbed a dormant cave network beneath the site, releasing an endless horde of silithid insects that quickly overwhelmed and drove off the battered survivors.

The Awakening Swarm

Today, Rustmaul stands entirely lost to the surface races. What remains of the mining equipment and scaffolds is buried under skittering mandibles and alien carapaces. The surviving members of Moktar Krin's war party retreated north to Ironstone Camp, terrified by the unrelenting tide of insectoids that emerged after their attack.
