Pestilent Scar

The Pestilent Scar is a deep, blighted gorge carved into the blighted terrain of the Eastern Plaguelands. Unlike the jagged rents torn open by catastrophic Scourge blight, this chasm appears to be a natural canyon or dried lakebed that was subsequently corrupted and overrun by ravenous oozes.

A Blighted Chasm

Winding through the eastern reaches of the Eastern Plaguelands, the Pestilent Scar forms a gloomy rift in the corrupted landscape. While nearby rifts like the Infectis Scar were ripped into the earth by sudden catastrophic eruptions of the Plague of Undeath, scholars note that the Pestilent Scar seems to have originated as a natural geological formation. It was likely a deep river canyon or natural lake that dried up when the Scourge swept across Lordaeron, leaving a barren trench that gradually pooled with noxious runoff and foul slime.

The Slime Pits

Deprived of pure water and bathed in persistent unholy decay, the hollow has become a breeding pit for mutated, acidic slimes and carrion vermin. Traveling near its crumbling rim is treacherous; the air above the drop is choked with acrid fumes, and the unstable soil frequently threatens to dump unwary adventurers straight into the churning muck below.
