Noxious Lair

The Noxious Lair is a sunken silithid hive situated in the southwestern deserts of Tanaris, bordering Un'Goro Crater. Once a verdant basin with flowing water, the territory has been infested and drained of its vital resources by the burrowing Centipaar swarm. Now, it stands as an acidic breeding ground filled with swarming insectoids and rich mineral veins.

A Drained Basin

Resting against the western ridges overlooking Un'Goro Crater, the Noxious Lair occupies a depression in the sand that once held a lake or shallow river. When the Centipaar silithid invaded, they consumed the desert's remaining underground moisture and transformed the basin into an encroaching colony. Vast pincers and twitching limbs rise directly from the sand dunes, surrounding subterranean tunnels slick with corrosive insect secretions and clusters of incubating eggs.

The Centipaar Swarm

Subterranean tunnels link the surface entrances to humid, acid-coated breeding chambers beneath the sands. Centipaar workers, tunnelers, wasps, and colossal sandreavers patrol the perimeter, defending their brood from outside threats. Beyond its biological dangers, the upheaval caused by silithid excavation has unearthed deep mineral deposits, creating an unusually diverse hunting and prospecting ground where subterranean ores sit exposed amid the swarming hives.
