Cavern of Mists

The Cavern of Mists is the expansive outer antechamber leading into the depths of the Wailing Caverns. Fed by subterranean geysers that erupt through the rock, its central pool and hanging fog harbor strange, mutated wildlife roaming just outside the portal threshold.

Before descending into the true heart of the Wailing Caverns, travelers must navigate the Cavern of Mists. Thick, warm vapor hangs permanently in the air, fed by natural geysers erupting from the cavern floor into a deep central pool. Though it serves as an entryway, it is far from peaceful. Swarms of raptors, serpents, oozes, and semi-aquatic threshadons wander the ledges and waters, alongside notorious beasts like the hydra Trigore the Lasher. It provides adventurers an ominous preview of the unnatural growth festering deeper below.
