Wailing Essence
Wailing Essence is a strange, concentrated substance found within the ectoplasms roaming deep inside the Wailing Caverns. Suspected of fueling the bizarre mutations spreading through the flora and fauna of the Barrens, it has drawn the attention of opportunistic alchemists eager to bottle its potent properties.
A Volatile Concoction
The subterranean caverns beneath the central Barrens have grown thick with unnatural energy, warping beasts and giving rise to gelatinous ectoplasms. These oozing creatures concentrate a viscous substance known as Wailing Essence. While local druids observe these waters with growing dread, goblin entrepreneurs see only raw commercial opportunity. In the port town of Ratchet, an eccentric alchemist named Mebok Mizzyrix believes this essence is the missing active ingredient for a line of lucrative 'smart drinks' meant to enhance consumer intellect, utterly unconcerned with the nightmarish corruption it might actually harbor.
