Hardened Tortoise Shell

The sun-scorched expanse of the Shimmering Flats is home to various breeds of sparkleshell tortoises, including snappers and borers, whose carapaces have evolved into exceptionally tough defenses against the harsh desert salt and wandering predators. Out on the salt flats, standard metal alloy fuel tanks frequently corrode or rupture under the strain of gnomish experimental chemistry. Mechanics like Wizzle Brassbolts prize these shells not for armor or shields, but as organic raw material tough enough to be retrofitted into makeshift, acid-resistant fuel tanks capable of containing volatile rocket propellants.
