Southmoon Ruins
The Southmoon Ruins are ancient stone remains situated in southern Tanaris, just north of the Valley of the Watchers. Long claimed by the brutish Dunemaul ogres, the crumbling stonework preserves remnants of the ancient troll civilization that dominated the desert before the sands swallowed it.
Stones in the Shifting Sands
Rising out of the blistering wastes of southern Tanaris, the Southmoon Ruins stand as a weathered testament to the ancient troll empires that once ruled Kalimdor's southern reaches. Like nearby Eastmoon and Noonshade, its stone pillars and altars have weathered thousands of years of wind and abrasive grit. The site has often served as a squalid camp for the Dunemaul ogres, who show little reverence for the craftsmanship of the past, using the ancient structures purely for shelter and territory.
Secrets Beneath the Rubble
The architectural remnants are unmistakably trollish, but little is recorded of the people who raised Southmoon's stones or why they abandoned them. Whatever they left behind lies buried beneath the drifting sand, and the ogres who squat among the pillars care nothing for it.
