Lake Mereldar
Lake Mereldar is a sprawling, contaminated body of water resting south of Corin's Crossing in the Eastern Plaguelands. Once part of the idyllic rural heartland of Lordaeron, its corrupted waters now spawn twisted elementals and rot beneath the lingering taint of the Scourge.
A Polluted Haven
Situated just south of the crossroads town of Corin's Crossing, Lake Mereldar was once a peaceful fixture of northern Lordaeron's countryside. Dotting its shores are the decaying ruins of an old homestead, an abandoned shack, and a dilapidated ferry that once carried local farmers and travelers across the gentle waters. With the coming of the Scourge and the plague of undeath, the lake fell into complete ruin. The surrounding soil withered, and the waters turned foul and poisonous.
Twisted Inhabitants
The unnatural blight seeping into Lake Mereldar has thoroughly infected the local ecosystem and the spirits tied to it. Blighted Surges—corrupted water elementals driven mad by necromantic residue—lurk in the shallows and surface without warning. Along the weed-choked banks, vicious beasts such as Plague Ravagers prowl the mud, preying on whatever living creatures stray too close to the dead shoreline.
