WoW Forever Warrior Talent Build: Best Leveling Spec and Skill Tree (1–30)

For leveling a Warrior in WoW Forever, Warcraft Tavern's beta guides present three level 30 builds: Arms (Sweeping Strikes) as the traditional leveling choice, Protection (Vanguard) for pulling packs and tanking, and Fury (Death Wish) for dual wield. Talent points start at level 10, and the beta builds spend 26 points, which includes 5 free points from the Talented Legacy perk.

Quick answer: Pick Arms with a big two-hander if you quest alone and want burst damage. Pick Protection with a one-hander and shield if you tank dungeons or pull groups. Pick Fury only if you accept more damage taken and more downtime. Every build here was written for the beta, which stopped at level 30.

The three Warrior talent builds and the Protection milestones
Warrior level 30 builds from Warcraft Tavern: Arms Sweeping Strikes 26/0/0, Fury Death Wish 0/26/0, Protection Vanguard 0/0/26, plus Icy Veins' Protection milestones at levels 10 to 14, 20 to 21, 25 and 30 to 32.

Which talent tree should a Warrior level in?

The Warrior has three talent trees in WoW Forever: Arms, Fury and Protection. Warcraft Tavern's leveling guide calls Arms the traditional leveling choice, with high burst damage and stability. It says Fury takes a lot of damage and may need downtime, though the extra damage can be worth it. It says Protection can fight packs with little health loss, but notes that tank leveling has historically been slow.

Icy Veins is more cautious about Arms. Its beta guide rates Arms leveling as "capable, but slower than many other classes", cites low early damage and little self-healing, and advises avoiding pulling more than one enemy at a time. The two sources therefore disagree on how well Arms levels alone. See the full Warrior beginner guide for stances and abilities.

What is the Arms (Sweeping Strikes) leveling build?

Warcraft Tavern's talent page describes the Arms build as follows: Improved Rend (which leads to Deep Wounds), Improved Heroic Strike and Improved Overpower in the first rows, then Two-Handed Weapon Specialization, then Sweeping Strikes, then 4 points in either Bloodthrill or Weaponmaster. It ends with 1 point in Improved Slam. It treats Spearing Strike as optional and says to max Two-Handed Weapon Specialization instead if you will not fight its listed enemy types.

Icy Veins gives a slightly different order: Improved Rend 3 points, Deflection 2, Improved Overpower 2, Improved Tactical Mastery 5 (to reach Anger Management), Deep Wounds 3, Two-Handed Weapon Specialization 3 and Sweeping Strikes last, with the 5 Talented points going to Bloodthrill. Icy Veins also says Spearing Strike deals triple damage to Giants and Dragonkin. Both sources agree on the core: two-hander, Rend and Sweeping Strikes.

What is the Protection (Vanguard) build and when do you get each talent?

Protection is the only Warrior build with a level-by-level plan from a second source. Icy Veins' beta guide lists:

  • Levels 10 to 14: 5 points in Shield Specialization.
  • Levels 15 to 17: Improved Revenge.
  • Levels 20 to 21: 2 points in Master of Defense.
  • Level 23: Last Stand.
  • Level 25: Vanguard, which Warcraft Tavern says lets you use Charge without stance dancing.
  • Levels 30 to 32: 3 points in Focused Rage.
  • Level 33: Concussion Blow.

Defiance points (levels 24, 29 and 34) add threat for dungeons. For solo questing, Icy Veins suggests Improved Bloodrage and 1 point in Improved Shield Wall instead, and Warcraft Tavern suggests Improved Thunder Clap if you run fewer dungeons. Icy Veins also says you can use a two-hander until Revenge arrives at level 14, then switch to one-hander and shield.

What about the Fury (Death Wish) build?

Warcraft Tavern's Fury build takes Cruelty, Unbridled Wrath, Furious Precision and 2 points in Blood Craze, then Dual Wield Specialization, which unlocks Death Wish. The last 5 points are a choice between Improved Execute, Enrage (4 or 5 ranks, which the guide calls a very strong choice), or 1 point in Flurry. Warcraft Tavern says Raging Blows becomes valuable once you have Whirlwind. Warcraft Tavern's milestone list shows Dual Wield arriving at level 20.

Can you change your Warrior build later?

Yes. Talk to your class trainer in your race's capital city and choose the option to unlearn your class talents. The price has moved. Allthings.how (updated September 21) lists 1 gold for the first reset, 5 gold for the second and a cap of 50 gold, and says those figures could shift. Warcraft Tavern (September 24) says that if you have not recently changed talents the beta cost is now 1 silver, and calls this temporary and beta-only. The launch fee is unconfirmed, so check the talents explained guide near launch. Warcraft Tavern's Legacy overview also says Talented moves points earlier but total talent points still cap at 51. A free way to read zone and quest background while you level is the Lore Forever add-on, which is fan-made.

What is not confirmed yet

  • The beta stopped at level 30. Warcraft Tavern says level 60 builds will be added at launch, and Icy Veins says gear options beyond level 35 are not known.
  • Warcraft Tavern has not published stat priorities for Warriors yet and says Rage generation is currently very low compared with Classic.
  • Warcraft Tavern's claim that Protection is "incredibly strong now" is the author's assessment. The guide also says dungeon experience changes should make tank leveling slower, but that Protection avoids this; the changes themselves are not explained.
  • Method's Warrior page lists a different order, including Mortal Strike, and does not state a level cap, so this guide does not use it.
  • Icy Veins says unlock levels shift if you spend points in a different order than its plan.
