The Mirage Raceway in the Shimmering Flats is the staging ground for an unending, combustible rivalry between goblin and gnome engineering. In their pursuit of unmatched land speed, racers regularly suffer catastrophic breakdowns, explosive misfires, and high-velocity crashes that scatter metal across the salt flats. These discarded remnants—ranging from bent cylinders and burnt gears to crushed sheet metal—do not stay abandoned for long. Scavengers and merchants, most notably the opportunistic dwarf Kravel Koalbeard, hire passing adventurers to comb the blinding white expanse and collect the debris. Because both racing teams are perpetually desperate for spare machinery to patch together their next prototype, scavenged wreckage can easily be resold directly back to the very teams that wrecked it.
